We finally decided to follow in everyone else's footsteps by switching to blogspot. Our new blog is www.ryantess.blogspot.com
We spent our Memorial Day weekend in the Denver area. Among the things we did were: drove past the Ramsey's house, visited the Auraria Campus in Denver, went to the Bolder Boulder Memorial Day Celebration at CU's football stadium, played foxtail and croquet, walked around the Boulder Creek Festival and Pearl Street in Boulder and got free stuff, and on and on. It was a long drive to and from Colorado. Fortunately on the way back we got hooked on the tv show Arrested Development. That helped to make the time go by quicker.
So the elections for county commissioner are coming up soon here in Rexburg and today someone came around and hung little fliers for one of the candidates on all the doors in our apartment complex. Naturally, I threw ours away. But then, a few hours later after I had some time to clear my mind, I realized that I could probably do something with it. I removed it from its plastic grave and took it over to the computer. From there I typed the words "I do not eat babies, and that's a promise", into a word document. Next, I positioned the flier into my printer and pushed print. The end result was a new and improved flier that said in bold letters across the top "I do not eat babies, and that's a promise!" I took the new flier and brought it down to our downstairs neighbors, whose original flier was still hanging on their door. I quickly replaced theirs with mine. Now we just have to wait and see if they notice it.
Tess and I spent most of our week long break in between semesters in Estacada visiting her family. We also decided to celebrate her graduation from college by staying a night at the Red Lion on Jantzen Beach near downtown Portland. A few pictures from that are posted below. In our short time at the hotel we walked across the bridge to Vancouver, went out for a night on the town and ate at one of our favorite restaurants (Old Chicago), tried beer for the first time, went to Fort Vancouver (well, we actually just looked at it from the outside because it cost five dollars to go in and it didn't seem worth it at the time), went to the Grand Opening of a Fred Meyer in Vancouver (it looked more like a giant lodge than a Fred Meyer), and we toured the facility at @Large Films with Dennis (free wine, soda, and chips). It was fun. Also, the part about the beer isn't entirely true, I think it was actually the fifth or sixth time for Tess.
The rest of the week I spent wrestling my nieces and nephews at Krystal and Dave's. The Teare's also came into town so that made it even more fun. Our nephew Nate was baptized on Saturday so we got to see that. Also, Tess and Jandi braved some rare April snow showers and ran a half marathon early Saturday morning (they ran 13 or so miles). I woke up just in time to make it to the park to watch them finish.
Enjoy the pics!
A couple of things:
1. Boise State demolished the Vandals.
2. I got an e-mail from mom saying that not even wild puppies could get her to buy the things she does for us. (I encouraged them to invest in another bed...and they did. Add that to the ping pong table from this summer and I'm two for two.)
3. Tess and I went and saw Dan in Real Life. I give it two thumbs up.
